Marriott Marquis| Houston,TX

This past weekend I had the pleasure of staying at the Marriott Marquis in downtown Houston. Ever since this hotel opened I’ve been dying to visit. I mean the buzz about this hotel was HUGE because their lazy river is EPIC. I’ll get to that later. Anyways, one thing I enjoy doing ever so often is actually staying in the heart of Houston. I say I’m from Houston because that’s easy for others to grasp but I’m actually from The Woodlands. A town about a 35-40 min drive, depending on traffic, outside the city. One reason I enjoy these staycations is because I get to see all the hustle & bustle and the liveliness of the city. I must say Houston has such a beautiful skyline & this hotel allows you to get such an amazing view of it.

The reason I was in the city this past weekend was for the Taylor Swift concert. I decided instead of driving all the way back home after it finished it’d be best to have a mini “TAYcation.” Hahah. One of the main reason I picked this hotel was for its accessibility. The Marriott Marquis hotel is located right by Discovery Green, the convention center, downtown shops & resturants. Plus the hotel it’s self has 5 resturants & a coffeeshop so if you really didn’t want to leave you wouldn’t have to. Before heading off to the concert we decided to try their Walker Street Kitchen resturant. When we sat down we were made aware that they were currently doing happy hr plus had just added many new items to the menu. I was automatically pulled in because discount & new things I’m here for it. We weren’t extremely hungry so we decided to spilt a few appetizers which we got the delived eggs, crab dip, & shrimp. Hands down my favorite was the delived eggs. I’m not going to lie I was expecting something similar to a thanksgiving delived eggs but these were on another level. If. you go a pro tip is to get bacon on top...you won’t regret it.

The room we checked into for the weekend was a corner king & man were the views incredible. I included a picture below so you can see. There a few things I want to note about the room that I loved. I loved the couch corner they had. I love when rooms have these because I enjoy not sitting in my bed dirty so being able to sit somwhere comfortable & not ruining the freshness of the bed is a huge thing for me. Second is the curtains and the reason for this is because the room had 4 big windows which could allow for a ton of light, but the curtains kept it all out. This was perfect when we slept till way past 11 on Sunday!

Last, but definitely not least is the pool. If you ever come to Houston you have to go by the hotel & see the pool from the top floors. It’s in a massive shape of TEXAS, I mean everything’s bigger in Texas right? The area in the shape of Texas is a lazy river and the pool is equipped with tubes that you can hop on & float along. There is also another regular swimming pool that has a glass edge looking toward Discovery Green. Although you may not stay at the hotel they do offer day passes that you can purchase to access the river & pool! Idk about y’all but I love floating. Maybe it speaks to my lazy side but it’s so much fun just sitting in the tube & letting the water do the work! I was happy we kept the pool day to Sunday because after the Taylor Swift concert I needed some much r&r.

If you’re looking for a hotel in Houston that’ll give you a true Texas experience than I highly recommend Marriott Marquis Houston. Not only do they prove that everything is bigger in Texas by the size of their pool but also by their amount of hospitality. The staff was unbelievably sweet, attentive, & accommodating to our needs! I’m excited to stay here again. As always if you’re looking for recommendations let me know & if you end up staying here I’d love to hear your thoughts!

Best,
